It aims to reduce outbound medical travel from the island.
Maldives’ Tree Top Hospital has opened a dedicated Pain Management Clinic on the first floor of its facility, offering interventional care for chronic pain conditions.
The hospital said the launch is part of a broader national push to reduce outbound medical travel from the Maldives, aiming to keep more specialist care available locally to citizens.
Treatment covers a range of conditions, including chronic back pain, sciatica, herniated discs, spinal stenosis, and lumbar radiculopathy.
It also addresses osteoarthritis of the knee, hip, or shoulder, myofascial pain, occupational and sports-related injuries, and neuropathic conditions such as postherpetic neuralgia and trigeminal neuralgia.
Additional focus areas include chronic migraines, cervical dystonia, spastic disorders, pelvic and tailbone pain, complex regional pain syndrome, and cancer-related pain.
The clinic accepts referrals from Orthopaedics, Neurology, Oncology, Rheumatology, and Primary Care and uses image-guided techniques, paired with evidence-based medicine, to guide diagnosis and treatment.
The clinic operates Sunday through Wednesday, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., and remains closed Thursday through Saturday.
