Product Profiles

To address the visual field expansion needs of individuals with visual field defects, Dalian Maritime University and Harvard Medical School have undertaken an international collaborative research initiative. By employing a dual-reflection optical design combined with a multi-module optical cascade structure, this research has broken through the expansion limit inherent in traditional optical visual aids (approximately 57 prism diopters), thereby achieving optical visual field expansion with both high prism power (100 prism diopters) and high visual clarity. Furthermore, to overcome the precision assembly challenges associated with optical visual aids, the research team has realized modular manufacturing of prism elements and additive manufacturing of prism mounting components. These components closely conform to high-precision three-dimensional ocular models and precisely satisfy the stringent tolerances required for visual field expansion devices, thereby fulfilling the personalized and staged visual field expansion needs of individuals with visual field defects.This research outcome has been jointly evaluated in multi-center clinical applications across several Grade A tertiary hospitals, including Shenzhen Eye Hospital, the Eye Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University, the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University, and Henan Provincial Eye Hospital. The results demonstrate that prism visual aids can significantly enhance the visual perception capabilities of individuals with visual field defects.
